Those patients who will be discharged with special dietary needs shall be carefully instructed by our Nutritionist before leaving the Hospital. Consultations are also available following discharge if further instructions are needed by the patient and his/her family.
Our Emergency Room is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a physician trained in emergency care and a professional nursing staff. The x-ray department and medical laboratory services are readily available to support the physician in diagnosis and treatment.
Home Health Care
As an extension of your hospital care the Sweetwater Hospital Home Health is available to assist with your medical care after you return to your home. Services include Skilled Nursing Care, Home Health Aides, Physical Therapy, Speech and Occupational Therapy, medical supplies, and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Medicaid, Medicare and Private insurance accepted.
Services include pre-employment physicals, OSHA Hearing screens, on-site in services, Drug and Alcohol testing, CPR/ First Aid classes, Job-site Analysis, on-site flu injections, annual employee physicals and good health education.
All seriously ill or critically traumatized patients are admitted to the intensive care unit where they are under 24 hour supervision by a specially trained nursing staff who are familiar with the high technology equipment used in monitoring the patients.
In compliance with the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990, the Sweetwater Hospital will provide each patient with information concerning Living Wills and Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care. The Sweetwater Hospital association supports a patient’s right to participation in health care decision making, and will encourage patients to communicate their preferences to their physician and their families.
Using the latest in state of the art equipment the following procedures are available – Blood Chemistry; Urinalysis; Bacteriology including culture and sensitivity studies, therapeutic drug monitoring, Hematology, Coagulation studies and blood transfusions, and other procedures as requested by the physician.
An Obstetrical Suite which includes birthing rooms equipped with the latest in monitoring equipment has been designed for the comfort and support of new mothers and their families and awaits the prospective patient. A specially trained and professional team attends the patient during labor and delivery.
The Physical Therapy Department is under the direction of a Registered Physical Therapist. Services include sports and orthopedic injuries, outpatient rehabilitation, acute and chronic pain, exercise prescriptions, and various other therapeutic treatments as ordered by your physician.
A thoroughly efficient department equipped with the latest technology offers a wide variety of services including traditional X-rays, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Computerized Tomography, and Bone Densitometry. The department is supervised by full time Radiologists.
All anesthetized patients are recovered under close supervision by an Anesthesiologist and a Registered Nurse. Patients are returned to their hospital room as soon as their condition permits.
This department offers 24 hour a day coverage under the supervision of licensed personnel. Services include – oxygen therapy, breathing treatments, arterial blood gases, mechanical ventilation, pulmonary function testing, Holter monitoring, Treadmills to test heart function, Electroencephalograms and electrocardiograms.
A well trained surgical team is available for General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Urological problems, Ear, Nose and Throat procedures, Podiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology. Various non-surgical procedures are available such as Bronchoscopies, Colonoscopies, Sigmoidoscopies and Endoscopies. Same day surgery which eases stress and cuts the cost of health care is available upon orders from the physician.
